About MeAt some point in my early 30s, I anticipated a midlife crisis and started looking for a way out of teaching college English (no, punctuation is NOT optional); I discovered life coaching (what do you really want? what would your life look like if you got it?). It's been a gradual shift, but a good one, and just in the nick of time. Now, in addition to life coaching, I have begun taking folk guitar lessons to balance out my passion for kung fu. I am questioning my faith/the meaning of life/the purpose of pickles, etc., and finding a middle ground amid the craziness of 21st century American life. More About MeLocation: Brighton, Massachusetts Occupation: Life Coach My Philosophy On Life: Admiral Byrd said, "Find a way or make one." Even during my most difficult days, I have found that this idea that anything is possible can lift me to a point where I can do what must be done. And even if unlimited possibility isn't something I can believe in for today, I can usually believe in it for tomorrow, and thus I keep on going.
And as Terry Pratchett says, "Never resist a perfect moment." My Interests: People, flamenco, kung fu, reading, antiques, sushi, tapas, Japanese woodblock prints (mainly landscapes), furry animals (including guys), different cultures (but you caught that already, no?), Arts & Crafts, Mission furniture, medieval history (east and west), did I mention people? My Inspirations: Carmen Amaya, Gustav Stickley, Lam Sai Wing, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Eleanor Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt, John Paul Jones, Anais Nin, Virginia Woolf, Mia Ham... Music I Love: Carlos Montoya, John Denver, Indigo Girls, Roc O'Connor, Bonnie Raitt, Holly Cole, Mary Chapin Carpenter, musicals, Elton John, Miles Davis, Boz Scaggs, bad 70s music... Movies I Love: Casablanca, Tomb Raider, The Bells of St. Mary's, Hero, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, My Neighbor Totoro, Spirited Away, Willow, Shrek, The Prodigal Son, African Queen, The Maltese Falcon... TV Shows I Love: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Xena, Due South, Northern Exposure, really old Star Trek, pbs documentaries... Books I Love: Anything by Austen, Tolkien, Terry Pratchett., Also: Noble House, The Last Unicorn, Think & Grow Rich, Still Life with Woodpecker, Stickley Style, The Crystal Cave, Elfstones of Shannara, The Millionaire Next Door, Tai Pan Places I Love: Matsuyama, Japan, Middlebury, VT, Boston, of course.
