About Me

I'm a practitioner of Kashmir Shaivism, a form of 1500 year old traditional Tantra. I enjoy spending much time in sadhana doing meditation, japa, puja, homa, etc.

I act as a Rudraksha (healing age-old beads worn by yogis) distributor and also offer other related items, such as yantras and Shiva Lingams.

I'm a published writer, with material in both books (Llewellyn) and magazines (print and online). I also hold a degree in Sociology from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

I'm a big animal lover, environmentalist, and have a strong social conscience. For the last 10 years I have also been a Reiki healer.

Hi Anne,

Rudraksha beads are the original rosary beads. It isn't known exactly how far they date back, but several of the ancient Hindu texts (and also later Buddhist texts) discuss them and their various mystical and healing qualities. For ths they are considered amongst the most sacred & powerful of beads. The beads are the seed of a sacred tree found in India (the latin name of the species is Elaeocarpus Ganitrus). The bead has a naturally occurring hole through the middle and they are the hardest of beads. They are also known to last longer than a human life time.
There is much more to them as they come in different numbers of faces/sides, and each number is held to possess different healing abilities. Some of the beads can sell for thousands of pounds. Needless to say I don't have these ones! LOL :D Please have a look at my website for further info - www.shivabeads.co.uk

Nice to meet you! :)

Wishing you well,

Om Shanti
Neil

Namaste Andy,

I have only just saw that you have added a comment here! This is about the one page I never check.

Thank you for the kind words. I have found my time spent here stimulating, educational and reflective. What more could I ask for? :)

My thanks to you and the rest of the unsung heroes who operate behind the curtain to keep things running. You don't get the gratitude that you deserve for your efforts.
