Books I Love: The size of my library is a constant source of discussion in our house. I just keep coming home with more books and am usually reading at least three or 4 on the go at the same time. I love my books but there is a rumour going around that they may start being charged rent if they take up any more space. It has been sternly suggested that the pile is so large, it is in danger of starting to collapse in upon itself like a dying star, and form a black hole that swallows a large portion of southern England. I have this mental image of jaundiced policemen and jounalists looking on blankly while news crews and baffled onlookers peer over the rim of a gargantuan, smouldering crater that stretches as far as the eye can see... and the tiny voice of my girlfreind muttering from the darkness, "I told you so!" :-)
Places I Love: Cape Town. The roaring ocean beyond sight of land. The vast lonely sighing desert. The deep dark pine forest carpetted with dense vivid green ancient ferns, dappled in sunlight and frozen in the silent stillness of shadow. The river that plunges suddenly from a precipice, and the rock pool that holds the torrential waterfall.
Quotes I Love: "Carpe Diem". "Do, or do not. There is no 'try'" (Yoda, Star Wars). "Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to suffering" (Yoda). "Courage is the price that life extracts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not knows no release from little things. Knows not the livid lonelyness of fear" (Amelia Earhart). "There is a field out beyond right and wrong. I will meet you there." (Rumi). "Do everything in moderation, except for the occassional excess, whenever you feel like it." (Bill Bedford). "Never put off till tomorrow what you can do the next day!" (Unknown)
