Hello!

I hope that I am posting in the correct place....

I am trying to lose a little bit of weight, not much, just a bit!

I have bought myself a bike, and it has made me realise how unfit I am. I have no stamina... as soon as it starts to hurt, I want to give up!

Does anyone have any advice on improving stamina, or just increasing energy in general. I work a hell of a lot of hours, so it is hard enough trying to drag myself out of bed early in the morning!

Thanks for reading :)

Hi Karen. I had similar issues a few years ago. I went to see a nutritionist, who suggested a very low sugar, low glycemic index diet, and eating six times a day. The weight disappeared, fitness and stamina levels soared - so, for me, it`s all about diet!

Hi Karen, I completely agree with Ian, changing my diet has really helped me. I started by doing one simple thing: eating more vegetables. That meant I had to cook more so it naturally reduced my intake of processed food overall. I started losing weight. Then I discovered that eating more regularly by incorporating a couple of light snacks into my day would help stabilise my blood sugar levels, as would eating more low fat protein like lean meat, cottage cheese/natural yoghurt, houmous, and adding grains/seeds like bulgar wheat, quinoa etc so I added those in. I'm 2 st lighter now and it's really improved my mental clarity when I'm working as well as my general health. I also saw a nutritionist and a great personal trainer. Previously I'd been busy with work (that was my excuse) and was skipping meals or eating late at night. Now I'm even busier but my health and nutrition are far higher up on the priority list! Good luck with it Karen and let us know how you get on.
