Lisa Mayall, an ex client of mine, has been keeping me posted and advised me yesterday that she is on this evening.

I met Lisa about five years ago as she had been urgently referred to me with Post Natal Depression. It appeared that she had been incorrectly diagnosed as she had suffered low moods and poor self seteem as a child. However, the birth of her child and seperation from her partner made her feel as if her life was collapsing. I discharged her ten weeks later with some new positive coping mechanisms.

Two years later and she became low again. By this time I had left the NHS, but she eventually got hold of my number. She was about to ring me and then thought she should at least implement the tools I had taught her. She seemed surprised that they were immediately effective. She then set herself a challenge. She saw an advert for Looking Good Naked and decided to apply. That in itself came with its own challenges in that she needed to be assessed and given a clean bill of health by her GP. However, she was one of the six girls filmed and put out on air last May.

This year, the programme approached her again and asked if they could film a year on. The presenter made out that the reason why she did not have a guy in her life was due to her low image of herself and her wardrobe. However, in the last year she has been dating an old flame and is now pregnant with their child. The presenters are delighted.

What Lisa found frustrating was that they would not consider the angle of our emotional wellbeing/mental health, but she keeps perservering in the hope that she can drop it in discussion with the powers that be.
