...would you like to live??? (question phrased this way to negate those who would mention other planets)

I know places we love is in our profiles but I thought I'd ask out here in the open air!

My preference would be Vancouver (its in Canada don't you know). The climate is comparable to the UK only a touch nicer. The air is clean and fresh even in the centre of the city. There are snow capped mountains in view, there is a laid back chilled feel to the place. Beer is cheap(!), and so is everything else comparatively from the UK. All the colours seem brighter, rain seems cleaner and they have a caring conscientious society in general.

What about you?? Yes, you!

There are so many places I want to travel, but I'm quite happy living right here in the UK :) In my opinion, you can't beat the english countryside. Right now I am living in a block of flats with no garden which is a bit miserable. But one day I would love to live by the sea! A walk along the sea front every day with my little boy, watching the sun set would be so wonderful!

So many places .......so little time! I wonder how much is 'grass is greener'
syndrome....but I too love being by the sea...and also rivers, especially in Wales.

I would love to go to the west coast of Canada someday in the not too distant future
(thanks for the reminder Asif) I hear the islands off Vancouver there are beautiful as well ? oh and also New Zealand ( & drop in on Jon for a cuppa!)

This really made me think……

Most people have an ideal dream place to live, and just the other day a friend was telling me her dream would be to live on a particular Greek island she loves. In fact I hardly know anyone that wants to continue living in the UK.

In the last three-four years I have had to do quite a lot of travelling, and just arrived back from Bahrain today. What I would say is this. Whilst it all sounds so exciting, after about a week, the only place I want to be is home.

The English countryside and the Seasons are so special and mean a lot to me. After 10 days somewhere abroad, I start to yearn for England and count the hours.

I think ideally, I would like to have a place in London and one in the country, and just visit other countries knowing I can come back again quick!

Ann :) x

Its very interesting, but having lived in a number of places in Australia, Tasmania, Melbourne, Mildura, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour, Sydney, Newcastle, and having been to most other places, its a BIG country, I really like where I am now. I would also like to visit many other places, especially Scotland (I have Scotish heritage,) and Canada.

P.S. Jayne you can come visit anytime, cuppa on me. Oh and Suzanne, you can come too.

Great Jon, thanks. I might time it for happy hour and have a Scotch instead! I learned to love whisky sours in New York. I suppose that is an insult to the scotch.

In my opinion I do live in the best place on earth.....wonderful rugged mountains, beautiful coastlines and vibrant cities all within easy reach - I'm not even going to say I would change the weather as the rain is what makes it so green and beautiful and the lighting so stunning on the hills, plus we're only a hop skip and a jump from the beaches of Europe for a dose of sunshine when required.

I am just back from a holiday in New Zealand and it is also beautiful country......Kind of like a sunny Scotland!! Would cheerfully visit again but am very happy right here.

Yeah!! Scotland is a pretty special place. Those mountains.....Loch Ness....

Those mountains are just so stunning - like this amazing background everywhere, and the people are really friendly.

I have only been there once, but would love to go again sometime.

I would love a place in the South of France. Lovely markets and fresh produce, gorgeous scenery and warmer weather... I guess having lived my childhood years in Argentina - I just love the warmer climes! I think we've just had all the seasons here this month. Snow, hailstones, sunshine and lots of rain!!! Though I suspect I too would miss dear old England, so would have to have a second home here too, preferably in the country as I'm getting fed up with the polution in Kingston ;)

I love the Rocky Mountains. When I first visited (Colorado) about 10 years ago, it truly was love at first sight. I wasn't expecting to feel that way which made it even more exciting. I have been back a few times since and it really does feel like home to me. The dry climate really does suit me.

Having said all that, I love the sea also and having a place on the coast in a slightly warmer climate would be just fine too. :) I don't really like too much heat. My favourite days in Colorado are cold and sunny.

All places mentioned sound lovely. I must send a pic of my view from mysitting room window which looks down a short road to the beach. The sun rises and sunsets are spectacular!
However, whilst I feel very lucky to live right here with the view and being by water, there is little warmth and too much stress around our neighbours. Greece and Spain have warmth, rugged scenery, great coastline, and far less stress around them as well as still having emotional family and community ties [unlike us in the UK] which I miss.
