There are so many factors involved with Chronic Fatigue Claire. Some of them may include candida overgrowth, parasites, heavy metal toxicity, pesticides, mercury leaking from fillings, severe mineral deficiencies, stress, adrenal glands, thyroid gland, your diet, etc., etc. It really does depend on the individual and I do remember two of my patients who suffered M.E. One was a girl who recovered when I took her off wholemeal bread, (known as the 'energy killer'), and the other was a boy who had taken 6 months off university with M.E. In his case it was cows milk products. I switched him to goats products and he was able to go back to university and take his exams. If I were you I would see a nutritional therapist who can evaluate your lifestyle and advise you accordingly. My website may help with further info, and I probably haven't even covered all that is involved with Chronic Fatigue. Hopefully, though, some of this may help a bit. Ann Quote |

Hi Claire, what Ann says is very good, I also know that the endocrine system is a big part of the problem as well as emotional issues. You could look into Emotional Freedom Technique www.emofree.com as well as nutritionals for your hormonal system. Quote |

Hi Clare.....Yes to all of the above . Also an environmental factor to be aware of is Geopathic stress and electro magnetic field pollution. Both of these affect the way your immune system responds so a whole myriad of symptoms can arise. I have worked with numerous clients with ME and have found this to be either a small or large part of the problem. You can read about it on this site www.hk4health.comwww.hk4health.com and how you can correct it. Jayne Last edited: 2-03-2008 01:36:45 PM

Hi Claire, In addition to good nutrition, (often in association with an anti-candida diet), emotional support and appropriate energy work, the Buteyko Breathing technique is really effective for reducing ME symptoms of all kinds. ME patients (like those with asthma and high anxiety) overbreathe chronically for a number of reasons. The original trigger is less important than the bad habit that's been acquired from it! The faster, shallower and more you breathe beyond what your body needs, the quicker you lose carbon dioxide (think how it feels to blow up too many balloons). Because you need a certain amount of CO2 to release oxygen from the red blood cells, the more you overbreathe the less oxygen is available. Not only does that cause exhaustion, muscle aches and digestive problems, but secondary symptoms as the immune system is compromised. Luckily it's quickly reversible by retraining the breathing using the Buteyko method. It needs to be done by a therapist familiar with the particular needs of ME clients (taking you a bit more gently through the process) but it's very effective, and also pleasant to do. I've had several clients with long-term ME (one was diagnosed over 30 years ago and has tried just about everything along the way!) Within 2 or 3 weeks the symptoms measurably reduce. Energy levels increase enough for exercise to be practical, sleep quality improves, tolerances improve, and if there are asthma or anxiety problems, those symptoms reduce too. ME is a complex problem, and it requires a holistic approach. Most people find a combination useful, but be careful to test one at a time to find out which is actually working! If you want any more info, or just to chat, please give me a call. (I had ME myself) Best wishes, Jen Tiller REALITY QUEST strategies for well-being 01462 624 160 jentiller@realityquest.co.uk Quote |

That's interesting Jen! I had always thought the Buteyko method was solely for treating asthma. Ann X Quote |

Dear Claire Very good advice all round so far. Once you have eliminated dietary allergy, geopathic stress etc. There is the possibility that you have an infection of epstein barr or another similar virus. If the bodies immune system is to weak you cannot fight it off. I have eliminated severe M.E. by taking sauna every other day, raising the bodies core temperature for ONE HOUR to a level the virus cannot survive at. This is for two weeks solid then start to space as you improve. YOU MUST NOT DO THIS IF YOU HAVE A HEART CONDITION OR HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE.and must drink at least 3 litres of water the day you sauna and two on other days. Most of all pace yourself and only use 75% of the energy you think you have. Please check BP with GP. Best Wishes Fiona Last edited: 18-06-2008 11:03:05 AM

Hi Claire I Personally, tried everything over 8 years to no avail, and I was almost bedbound, It was then I was offered Reiki, and not long afterwards I was able to get around more without having to resort to my bed every hour, my therapist reccommended I take Reiki level 1 so I could carry out self-healing on myself, I now do part-time work and promote Reiki anyway I can. Not being bias about any methods that will be able to help but I found Reiki to be my lifesaver. I wish you well, if you need to know more, you can contact me below xx www.reikichain.com Quote |

So sorry to hear that you have ME, my sister has suffered for the past 5 years and found that very little was effective. However she has recently discovered Aloe Vera products and has been taking a daily dose, her energy levels have lifted and she no longer feels that she is wading through treacle. I'm not suggesting that it works for everyone but I have seen such a remarkable change in her that I think the product has a positive effect on the symptoms. If you would like to contact her please message me, even if it's just to know that you're not on your own. Love Anne x Quote |

Sorry if this is considered hijacking the thread, but can anyone advise? I don't have ME - but I've had a low level chronic fatigue for as long as I can remember - since my teens. It's not debilatating, but I'm always tired and easily get very run down if I have a couple of late nights or bad nights sleep. blood count, blood sugar, thyroid etc tests always come back normal. Blood test that checks for nasty viruses in the past came back normal. I avoid caffeine, don't smoke, don't drink much and do a reasonable amount of exercise (it would be more but I struggle to not lose weight when exercising). My diet is good and balanced. A few years ago I had my sacral chakra overhauled as I felt it was "leaking" and I felt better, but that was more of an acute problem. When I do chakra function tests, like at eclectic energies, everything is open and working. Last year I tried a nutrional therapist lead detox-diet and mineral supplements. It just confirmed what I already knew - that wheat and oats give me IBS, but despite spending nearly 6 months on it the low-level fatigue didn't improve. I have, however, noticed that if I forget to take my B-vits or magnesium supplements for a few days I feel much worse and PMT gets bad. I used to have recurrent thrush but cleared that up with a supplement called Dida, so I assume I don't have candida issues. I was tested for helicobacter infection a few years ago and that came back normal. Since my teens I've lived in 5 places and not noticed any difference between them, so I don't think it is a geopathic stress thing. I don't have any fillings, so can't envisage how I'd have heavy metal poisoning. I breathe slowly and deeply, so doubt I'm overbreathing. I'm attuned to reiki level 1 and self treatment doesn't seem to touch it. I do yoga and tai chi and try to meditate (not as much as I'd like - it generally comes down to having time to meditate or having time to sleep - sleep wins). I'm happy with my life - I have a good job, good friends, good love life. It's hectic, but the main reason is that I'm so tired all the time - I don't function efficiently. The only lifestyle issue that might have an effect is that I tend to be a shoulder for people, but I've been regularly grounding and protecting and doing aura cleanses, and am generally able not mentally take on other people's problems. Sorry for the long post, but any other thoughts on what else I can try are very welcome. Steph Quote |

Steph Hi Steph, GS is extremely common and may have affected everywhere you've lived previously- also Electro magnetic fields are increasingly everywhere ( and more serious problems arising with blue tooth etc) and some people are much more sensitive to both GS and EMF's ( which can interplay with each other making the effects even more powerful) Although all Therapies are important to help repair your energy system they will not be able to process properly if your immune system is under attack (especially at night when you're asleep) PS. Also as others here will tell you heavy metal poisoning does not just arise from amalgams. HTH's Jayne Quote |

Hi Steph, If you are meditating regularly you will find that you require less sleep and you still get the benefits of meditation. One of the noticable benefits is an improvement in health, both mental and physical and a stronger immune system.I cannot remember the last time I had a days sickness during the last 5 years, such has been the benefits to me.Although not a quick fix I believe meditation is the ultimate self healing tool which makes many other tools redundant along the way in my experience. Hi Jon, Yes, it is a big statement but one based on my own experiences.Meditation is not just for the mind but is a purification of the nervous system.Having been involved in martial arts for over 30 yrs, Tai Chi(5 yrs),Reiki and energy work for over 7 yrs plus various other modalities I have found the energy from the Kundalini is much more and effective. We all are taking in energy from around constantly and with meditation a greater amount of energy is channeled enhancing the body's self healing abilities further. With an awakened Kundalini the body is healed automatically without input from yourself. This is my experience. There are other modalities that will enhance your health quicker but I don't believe to the extent that meditation will. Hi, I've had and recovered from ME. What helped me: Meditation, Yoga, Reiki, NLP, Nutritional Therapy, Bowen Therapy, EFT and basically becoming a whole new person! My kundalini energy also became active (David mentions will help), take care though with spiritual practices, can be too much too soon, which I also experienced, although probably helped in the end. I now work predominantly with ME/ CFS one to one as a therapist and in groups in Sheffield- see www.healingenergetics.co.uk Would also recommend www.theoptimumhealthclinic.com and www.the90dayprogramme.com (am organising one in Sheffield in Nov) All the best on your journey of healing...
