I think if you're going to bring the idea of cost into it we should look at the entire budget of the parents saying this, as I know plenty of parents who claim they can't afford to buy the bestest food for their kids but funnily enough will find money to buy cigarettes, go to the pub, buy CDs/DVDs, expensive mobile phones etc. Even their kids mobile phones will cost £80 yet they will feed then cheap junk day after day cos apparently anything else is "too expensive" I remember my own mother telling me (when I was about 10) I couldn't have a kiwi fruit as it was too expenive (18p) yet she was never without her packet of smokes. I think, sad to say, that healthy eating is way down the list of most peoples prorities. Personally I would rather go without 'cool stuff' and be able to eat my sexy organic diet ;-P in tastiness and health! Quote |
