STORIED APRONS SOUTH SLAVIC SHAMKAS
, DECEMBER 4TH, 2005 1:00 - 5:00
Ancient South Slavic grandmothers once walked to a single rhythm and evoked white birch tree councils where their gossip was the language of the Mother Tongue. The word origin of gossip means "Language of the Goddess," consisting of the women's fine ability to observe daily mundane acts into continuum birthing engendered sciences and a peacful culture lasting millenniums.
The Mother Tongue is a sister based expression speaking the reality of a female's life experiences. This is a call to all women 35 and older walking their sacred pilgrimage towards knowing a single rhythm-the dance of solidarity. The gathering of women monthly produces a single rhythm, ovarian synchrony that births into menapause; the keeping of wisdom within.
South Slavic storied aprons are the first person stories of daugthers, mothers and grandmothers handed down through mitochondrial DNA and into the future generations. Often the slavs embroidered pockets to hold dolls, keys, jewelry to be passed on to their daughters. What would be in your apron?
Come and gather with mothers and grandmothers in a safe, nurturing environment at Balance Point Sacred Earth Retreat. Love donations are accepted. Pot luck and druming and singing included. please RSVP.
