Part improvisational movement class, part movement based meditation and shamanic journey, Ecodance beckons you to explore your inner nature and your connection to the Earth.

The class is structured into four parts: introduction and sitting meditation, movement warm-up, theme development, and closure and sharing. While the individual class themes develop during the introduction and movement, Ecodance, like our lives, unfolds within the context of seasons. The four seasons provide the framework for the questions asked at the beginning of class and influence the flavor of the meditation. The fact that music is not used for the class gives the participant an opportunity to notice his or her own impulses to move in response to the invitations from the instructor, rather than following the external timing cues of music.

An ongoing practice of Ecodance allows for a deepening experience of oneself. The focus on both internal and external nature allows the participant to take the experience into his or her life. Benefits may include feeling more connected to life in general, an expanded appreciation of one's body, and a sense of empowerment to make choices that nurture one's self, one's community and our Earth.

One aspect that differentiates Ecodance from other movement/ dance practices is the explicit focus on nature and on our connection with the world. Much more than a special interest for those who consider themselves to be "environmental activists", this is a focus on an essential and vital part of what it means to be human.

In a time when we are increasingly confronted with environmental imbalance due to human alienation from the natural world, this focus has become crucial to our survival.

I founded Ecodance in response to a yearning to help people fully remember their connection to nature and to allow nature to participate in their own healing and growth.

Come as you are, dressed to move, with you own body of experience.
Cost is $15/class
