BAREFOOT SHIATSU - Acupressure Massage (6 Continuing Education Hours)
Shiatsu (Acupressure Massage) is a powerful form of oriental bodywork and a system of healing and health maintenance that literally means finger (SHI) pressure (ATSU). It incorporates the traditions of acupuncture, acupressure, yoga, effective breathing, and exercise. Shiatsu is one of the fastest growing areas of complementary medicine in the West because it combines the traditional understanding of the body's energy systems with current knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
Class Covers:
-basic techniques of Shiatsu;
-theory of Oriental Healing Arts;
-awareness of Ki;
-yin/yang interaction;
-relaxation techniques for tight muscles;
- joint stretches;
-meridian systems;
-specific acupressure points;
-and self-care through movement (Do-in).
Cost is $129 w/$50 deposit paid two weeks in advance; $150 otherwise;

Workshop includes lecture, demonstration, hands-on practice, workbook and Continuing Education Certificate. Instructor Jane Thorpe-Cooke is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Massage Therapy Instructor and Continuing Education Provider. She has a 20 year background in Holistic Health, Therapeutic Massage, Pregnancy/Infant Massage, Reiki, Reflexology, Oriental Healing Arts, and Transformational Breathwork. She has trained as a Birth Facilitator with experience in Water Birth and Dolphin Research. In private practice for 18 years, Jane is the owner of A Healing Touch and Advanced Bodywork Trainings. She has developed the curriculum and textbook for the Infant Massage Training and has enthusiastically taught it since 1991.
All classes are held in Wimberley, Tx which is between Austin and San Antonio, and 15 miles
between San Marcos and Dripping Springs.
