whew - what a ride into 2010!

so much has happened since our last blog here - the Peace Center closed (peaceably, but sadly), various other activities and relationships faded away, and apparently it was a Divine arrangement, as for a while we needed all our energy for a journey with cancer...for quite some time we, and many of those we know, were in a state of suspension and introspection...
now it's a new year, things are falling into place again, whatever was old that we kept seems transformed, new things, interests, people are appearing...Life is good and we're newly fascinated with it...
here in Blue Ridge it's been unreasonably cold and snowy, but we're feeling springlike inside, budding with projects that will unfold more and more as the months pass - the World seems to be in major upheaval in many places (or at least we've become more aware of what's going on) - we feel compassion for those who suffer, we pray for justice and mercy - and we also see that there is much possibility for rebuilding each of our lives along more positively creative, happy lines...
here's wishing you well in your own new year - thanks for all the wonders you bring...
new Peace Center in Copperhill, TN!

Wow, all this Change is breathtaking, hunh?!
New President, new life situations for nearly everyone - new hope!
Flowing with the changes, we've folded our Reiki Salon in downtown Blue Ridge, GA and now we're opening a small place adjacent to Munchies, the Copper Basin's only vegetarian restaurant, in nearby Copperhill, TN.
A multi-faith Light Center where folks can come to feel some Peace and re-center themselves. A reading room and a small sacred space for prayer and meditation - healing music and someone to listen...
Maybe helpful for this wonderful time of growing and transition.
Shift happens - let it be Good!

three years ago, HolisticLocal seemed like a good idea, maybe it still is - but it's been disappointing that folks have to sign up just to send an e-mail for connection in this type of earth-helping, spirit-oriented network - anyway, among a few shortcomings, the one that's most dismaying today is that once they find us, it's so much trouble for people to find the articles we've written hoping to share and be helpful through this portal...
so here's a list of the ones we currently have posted, hopefully you can go to the library features and use a keyword to find them....
they're about: ear candling - a vegetarian easy-start - a dance healing practice - kirtan, a favorite spiritual practice - and there's a longish story about our travels through a wide variety of churches, temples and spiritual gatherings -
well-wishes in every word!

vibrational healing
Friday, February 29th, 2008 10:52 PM
There's a song that came to me once in the forest - we perform it sometimes: "We are Light and we are Love - heal us Mother, heal us." Through the years our knowledge of science and theology has converged and we've evolved into better understanding that we are indeed made of Light and Love.
The healing modalities we use, whether addressing physical, mental, emotional or spiritual bodies, are becoming better understood to be working through the adjustment of vibration - because we are vibratory beings, of course.
Whether by consciously channeled healing music, or homeopathic remedies and flower essences, by the transmission of Reiki, counseling in divine Presence, or through healing visual art, divine inspiration and assistance come to us through the presence of higher vibration.
Personally, that's why we love to chant and participate in kirtans. In the sound of the holy names of God is the topmost vibration of love and light, and we are healed and transformed by it, time after time.
There are limitless names and forms of God/Goddess - for ourselves, we like to call Them and align ourselves with the vibration of perfection by chanting the ancient "Maha (Great) Mantra" -
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare
Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare
Chant and be happy!

The picture of us is at Tumbling Creek, in Tennessee. We live in such a beautiful area, in the corner where GA/TN/NC meet. It was a long journey from our noisy lives in the suburbs of Atlanta to here, and we still have to travel back to the City fairly often, challenging our resolve to reduce our environmental impact and drive less often.
I have what might be called a spiritual practice of breathing deeply - it's easy to maintain here. I just look at the beauty, breathe deeply, and realize more of the perfection that is everywhere. I'm getting better at doing the same thing when I'm in the City...
by the way

Sometimes our collective name, Holy Names Mission, provokes a little uneasiness amongst those whose experiences with organized religion have not been so great.
We've gone by this name for these 18 years because it best describes our reverence for Creation and our transcendental realization of one God who has many names and forms. Each of us came from different spiritual backgrounds, with interests in various cultures, when we started - and each of us is still growing. What we have in common is that our love of God/Goddess and for every bit of divine Creation so overwhelms our lives that we feel we have a mission to use our gifts in sharing divine love. Making Peace, a piece at a time.
The mission is really about healing and empowerment, whether through correspondence or art, personal assistance or music, devotional literature or hands-on healing. We nurture an awareness that everyone's still evolving into their own realizations of Divinity - life is good, death is worth thinking about, and everything can always be made better.
So that's the deal about our name - HNM - we love you...
always something new

Blogging is new for us, this is our first. Isn't there always something new to learn? We have to smile remembering how we struggled with those first Starwriters before there was a computer in the house, and how that first computer nearly went crashing out the door when we were first learning how to use it!
Our resident Vedic scholar says there's a Sanskrit term for the ever-renewing quality of eternal life - the ancient scriptures say that in the topmost heavenly realm creative expressions of Love are perpetually spewing out in ever-fresh new ways...
May fresh streams of Life also gush out through us in every moment.
hey, blogging is fun! I'll be back!
