What is Reiki?
By Tabitha Gale
Reiki is one of the oldest systems of natural healing and evolved in Japan through the experience and dedication of Dr Mikao Usui (d. 1926).
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese word meaning Universal Life Energy or Universal Life Force, and is a gentle form of hands on healing. The therapist acts as a neutral channel for reiki energy to pass through to the client.
Reiki energy goes to where it is needed and works by supporting your body’s natural healing process. It acts on all levels of an individual and can therefore help physically, mentally, emotionally or energetically. It is a gentle, non-invasive therapy, which means that even painful or immobile parts of the body can be treated.
Reiki is a complementary therapy that works well alongside conventional medicine as well as other therapies. It accepts any religious beliefs you may or may not have, and is not religious itself.
