Who’d be a man?
My fellow man, can you honestly say you are proud of our half of the species? I’ve got to tell you I’m not.

New Angles on Angels
I tend to stick to natural health, holistic living and personal development when it comes to subject matter for this column, so the idea of looking into tarot is something of a departure and, quite frankly, a territory into which I thought I'd never venture.

Where have all the real men gone?
Testing times for a former Olympian got me thinking about men and spirituality this week.

Holistic x-ray
The idea of going for a scan can create anxiety. Whether for the purposes of routine screening or to double-check a medical suspicion, scans also tend to be rooted in the physical body. So the idea of a metaphysical or holistic scan – to look for energetic blockages – caught my interest.

Holistic course inspires new ‘no cows’ company
“The course transformed my thinking, made me braver, more positive and less fearful about making changes,” says Claire Morrissey, a Kevala Holistic Stress Management student who has started a new business - "No Cows" - a vegan goods website

On unconditional love and in praise of marriage
Just recently, against the background of declining numbers wishing to marry and parliament having a kick-about on the subject, I had one such remarkable conversation with Life coach, oxygenation expert and musician, Ruth Gilmore, who firmly believes in the power of marriage and she told me why. Ruth has had an extraordinary life - certainly by my measure - with more tragedy and trauma than most of us have to bear.

Bad, bad science
As a promoter and fan of holistic, complementary and alternative therapies, I’m often irritated by those of a scientific, rational and evidence-based mindset.

Natural Concerns
If all goes according to plan, I'll be at the Natural Products Show in London tomorrow, where I'm destined to see the largest trade show of its kind in the UK. I'm told around 6,000 specialist buyers will be bringing along a staggering £2.7 billion worth of naturally-oriented budget, looking to splash out on the latest innovations in wellbeing.

100% Health
I mentioned last week that I was on my way to the Natural and Organic Product show in London. Now back, thoroughly up-to-date with the latest developments, and with the sweet taste of many a healthy treat dimming in my memory, I'm delighted to say that we have reason to be proud here in Torbay.

The Holistic Awakening
OK, I admit it: I’m the weird guy on this page. The other men who appear around me seem to pitch their offerings well within the conventional medical mindset and I’m the one writing “out of the box” on subjects that don’t necessarily fit into the mainstream idea of health.

Nutritional Therapist, dietician or nutritionist - what’s the difference?
If you are looking for a nutrition-based solution to a health issue or want to look at the link between food, lifestyle and health, who should you talk to?

Zenployee of the week
Yes, you read that right. "Zenployment" is apparently the trend to watch as we're being warned this week that "Britain's bosses are to face a rush of resignations as forty-something workers chase fulfilment".

Indigo is the new green
The call to environmental arms, with 'how to be green' tips facing us at every turn, is ringing in our collective ears. Quite frankly – and whilst I do agree we should pay more respect to our planetary home – I'm sick of it...

Dear God, please save us from Scientism
There I was writing my newspaper column about “non violent communication” when, rather ironically, I became enraged by two stop press news items that knocked me off my perch in a fit of utter incredulity.

Save the world? Or let it die with dignity?
Civilisation is not working. If you’re the sort of person who needs the maths, just take the number of children who, it’s claimed, die needlessly every day from easily preventable diseases. For the spiritually inclined, see Gandhi who, when asked what he thought of Western civilisation, is supposed to have said, “I think it would be a good idea”. In the time since his passing, I’m guessing there are more wars in progress and a smaller minority owning more of the world’s wealth.
