SoQi to good health
There are times when the phrase: “It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it” seems to have been created just for me. It came to mind most recently, when I re-acquainted myself with ‘SoQi’ therapy in my efforts to keep you abreast with the latest holistic developments.

The future of counselling
Although counselling was my entry point into the world of complementary therapies, I think it's fair to say it has a difficult image. Counselling is seen by many, if not most, as an admission of weakness – a totally incorrect judgement on what many, like me, discover is a powerful and potentially life-changing tool.

What is Natural Living?
The terms ‘alternative’, ‘complementary’, ‘holistic’, ‘green’ and even ‘spiritual’, all seem to find a home under the umbrella of natural living. Alone, they may conjure up images and prejudices that we may not want to necessarily associate with, but mixed together as an all-encompassing way of life that honours our health, our communities and the planet, who in their right mind is not into living naturally?

Glorious food
Regular readers will know that I’m a big fan of the benefits of nutrition and other natural measures over pharmaceutical interventions wherever possible. Now it’s official: food is better medicine than drugs. Well it is if you believe nutrional guru and Patrick Holford and Times contributor Jerome Burne whose book of that name is just about to be published.

Could you live without TV?
OK, it’s not an obviously health-related question, but if you bear with me, I’m sure you’ll end up agreeing that television does have a deep impact on our wellbeing.

Erica the change agent
Dramatic events in my own life this week, and the reflections of having spent just over a year in my forties, have made me wonder if people can truly and significantly change themselves and their personalities for the better. Some years ago, I was sure personal growth or transformation were merely a matter of inspiration and determination; now older, and arguably - only marginally wiser - I see that change though seemingly simple, is not necessarily easy.

When his world was hit by the devastating effects of MS (Multiple Sclerosis), a fit and athletic 23 year-old Damian Houston was left wondering “Why me?” Now, after nearly twenty years facing the debilitating effects of the degenerative disease, Damian believes he has found a way to repair and regenerate his body, using a natural but powerful supplementation programme.

Is a successful massage career possible?
This is a question Amy Roberts (the massage therapists' guru) is often asked.
Here she talks to Carl Munson about the reality of having a thriving massage therapy practice, the mass movement towards wellness and what you can do to make it happen.

Research, rocket science and reality
I saw some research this week which confirmed that parents who want to ensure their newborn baby sleeps at night should try giving their child a massage. Is it me? Or does this piece of work smack of Basil’s Fawlty’s put-down to Sybil, reckoning her specialist subject was "stating the bleedin’ obvious".

Do Ron, Ron, Ron. Do, Ron Ron
It was my pleasure to be in London last weekend to hear the message of Ron Williams, an inspiring man with an inspiring vision for health and wellbeing. Ron took the trouble to fit a UK visit into his honeymoon schedule, between a marriage ceremony in Utah and a waiting – and very understanding - wife in Cancun.

Still plenty of bang for your baht in Bangkok
Whilst on a recent trip to Thailand researching new treats and treatments, I had the chance to check out Healthlands, a small chain of spas, with branches in Bangkok and and Pattaya.

Sick of healthy eating?
A Totnesian friend of mine, having heard a radio phone-in that posed the question: “Can healthy eating make you ill?”, told me he didn’t get through, but was ready to say: “most definitely YES! I live in Totnes and I know”.

Suddenly it all makes sense
Not wanting to sound too pathetic or even prophetic, I’ve got something of a confession session for you today; a few words that I trust will help you understand not only where I’m coming from and where I’m at, but may also shed some light in your life if you’ve ever wondered: “Is there more to life than this?” and “What’s the point of my existence?” (It’s not too late to turn away, if you can’t bear such lightweight issues!)

Appealing on behalf of healing
The word “healing” really seems to push people’s buttons. Just recently, I heard a Radio 4 guest - on one of those hot-air opinion-based programmes - slam anything to do with healing (i.e. “run a mile”) based on the merest mention of the word. Fair play I suppose, it does conjure up images of eccentric characters standing over or behind those in need, with their hands hovering mysteriously in the air, eyes closed and an atmosphere of mystical expectation.

How to get high on life
How to get High on Life (the Hedolists' Handbook) is a handbook for getting high ON life – not high IN life.
Many approaches exist that help you get high in life, mostly unsustainable, though fun at times. But that’s not what this is all about. We’re hedolists not hedonists.
Many spiritual and religious paths exist that can help you find a high outside your living life – in a church, in a retreat or in a cave somewhere. But what sort of life is it if you have to retreat to bring your mind, body and spirit together? That’s why we’re hedolists and not holists.

Love that strawberry (The Secret they don’t tell you in “The Secret")
I got The Secret last year and shared it with my friends. Though excited at the time - we loved it and got very fired up - some months later, I see no real change in my buddies - if anything their old cars are older; they are still in the same houses they'd rather not be in given an option and they still need me to buy them a pint from time to time. You get the idea.
